Mobilize to aid Isabel’s Immobility

Background
When I said “I Do” 25 years ago to my beautiful and brave Isabel, I knew that I would love, honour, care and protect her for the rest of our lives. When it came to “for better or worse” and “In sickness and in health” I kind of took it for granted. Even when she was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis), I never imagined that the physical effects and deterioration would be so devastating. MS robs you of so much, but when it turns our house into a prison cell for her, it just breaks my heart. At 61, and with Rheumatoid Arthritis, it is becoming increasingly difficult to take care of her and the house.
Can’t she take medication?
With advanced Secondary Progressive MS, there isn’t any medication for that stage of the disease that would help with extreme fatigue, lack of coordination, weakness, tingling, impaired sensation, vision problems, bladder problems, cognitive impairment and mood changes.
Reason for the Campaign
Isabel loves to garden, go for walks and help with shopping, but now her legs are so weak, that she can’t walk more than 30 feet before they give out. Going out shopping has become a challenge for her. She has a cane and a walker, but unfortunately, they are no longer enough. I would really love to get her a mobility scooter, which would enable her to get out of the house more. Since we live in the country, one that folds would be ideal.
Cost of Folding Mobility Scooter
Most of the ones that I have researched have a price range of $2000 - $4000. We did find one that is manufactured in China and it only cost $1000, plus taxes and shipping.
Why We Need Financial Assistance
Although Isabel receives a disability pension and I, a partial one, we cannot afford to purchase this scooter. We are technically living below the poverty line. We have applied to various organisations for financial assistance, but had no success. We have also approached local service organizations, without any success to date. Without any family on either side, we are each other’s sole support.
I love my wife and she has been my soulmate and best friend for over 25 years and I will do anything to provide her with as much comfort and stress free living as is humanly possible. Please help,
