“To all of my friends as well as my Sore No-More and Holistic Horse Magazine followers;

Life is a journey and not a destination, but far too often we focus on the accomplishments we achieve over the years and not the negative impact and toll it has taken on our well-being. I have dedicated and committed over 25 years to the alternative and natural health care concerns for our horses, and pets by studying and creating the Sore No-More Liniment Line, Equilite Herbals and the Botanical Animal Flower Essences.

I sold the company five years ago to Arenus.  I will remain in an advisory position as a co-publishing the Holistic Horse Magazine with my partner Karen Tappenden.  For 20 years we have dedicated ourselves to educating, while acting as a bridge between caretakers and practitioners, to benefit all horses.

It was in recent years I discovered that I have literally worked myself to the bone, contracting a rare form of blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma. This can impact people in different ways, for me it has seriously impacted my bones.

I have spent the few years researching the proper nutrition, alternatives, options, and even chemo, something I had never envisioned me ever doing in my lifetime.  I went back to a phrase from my lectures; it is all about options and knowing when to do which one in order to achieve the desired goal.  If I get a stomach ache, bring me a cup of peppermint tea, if I get hit by a car, bring me right to a hospital. If you get cancer…let me look at all of your options and decide the best blending or integrated approach.

Being an entrepreneurial spirit, I joined RS Bioceuticals, as a partner, to launch new marketing ventures like Equi-Tape, a fabulous Equine Kinesiology Tape for horses (www.equi-tape.com) and the Nose-It,  A Toy with Purpose (www.Nose-It.com)

As the treatment plan  has intensified I have had to take a step back and put things on hold and accept the fact that I can only focus on one thing right at this time and that is my healthcare. My love of caring for the horses remains steady, but will have to be put on hold for a little while longer.

Taking the integrative path to health involves both traditional western medicine and a holistic support. The expenses in first diagnosing and now in treatment have been exorbitant. Our medical system in this country supports western medicine, but does not yet support holistic treatments. Upon the insistence of friends, I have set up a site to receive donations to help support some of the costs for holistic treatments, as well as covering some of the veterinary costs associated with Savannah (dog) and Harley (cat) who seem to be suffering during my absence.

Now I am in the process of working with the experts at the Multiple Myeloma Hospital based in Arkansas (no not just for the crystals and hot springs). I am here to undergo intensive Chemotherapy and Stem Cell treatment.  My stem cells have recently been implanted and we are about halfway through the 6-9 month process.

I feel confident I will be back to my old self in the near future and be able to carry on with the care taking of the animalsas well as continued education for their benefits.

I would like to ask for your help and support so I can continue my path in the service of animal well-being, while navigating and overcoming this obstacle.

Please do not feel obligated to send money, although it would be very much appreciated. I would also value your support in sharing this message with your friends who have used Sore-No-More and/or Equilite Herbals and/or are devoted readers of Holistic Horse Magazine.

Thank you for your support in the following areas:

Animal Care (which costs me about $1000 month when I am not at home to care for them.)

Nutritional Support and Organic Food, which has allowed me to research and try different supplements, work with a variety of alternative practitioners and their therapies to help keep me healthy along the journey to support and compliment my treatments (this typically runs about$2,500/month)

Transportation for Caretakers and trips across the country.  I am not allowed to travel unattended and need constant care during the chemo and hospital runs across the country. (this can run between $3,000 to $4000/month)

Health Care Fees Not Covered By Insurance – Having to pay Chemotherapy and Stem Cell Treatment at various facilities, with multiple doctors (all specialized)  has now put me at a deficit of $100,000 dollars that I currently owe, due to out of pocket expenses.

Education Fund so I can complete 2 books on the agenda.
1) The first being a long overdue book on “The Energetics of Herbs for Horses”.

2) A new manual that I have realized is important for any person who needs to know how to navigate the health care system for humans, or animals.

More information will be provided on this in the upcoming months. I will need help with editing fees, publishing and printing costs. (In order to achieve these book goals we are looking at $7,500/per book)

Much Love and Botanical Blessings
