Please! Jax needs our help

Donation protected
Jax, a sweet senior Doberman from the Dominican Republic, needs our help. This boy was brought back from the brink of death when he was found behind a hotel on the beach. He was so emaciated, weak and full of ticks, that he couldn’t even lift his head. The dedicated folks of Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic (DCDR) took him in and nursed him back.
When he arrived in Canada through Marshall’s Dog Rescue, he was better, but still very thin at only 44lbs. Now at 52lbs, our vets say that he is still suffering from anemia and kidney issues.
To add insult to injury, Jax has now developed a sialocele, which is a salivary mucocele, or salivary gland cyst that occurs when there is an obstruction to the normal flow of saliva from the gland through the salivary duct. If left untreated, the gland may rupture and saliva may collect in the tissue space around the gland. Trauma to the duct or gland is thought to be the primary cause of a sialocele.
Jax has now developed a cough and the sialocele is growing quickly, which may suffocate him. Given his other ailments, he is at risk to have surgery, but it needs to be done, and it will be expensive.
Jax deserves every chance he can get at having a happy life.
Marshall's Dog Rescue is located near Perth, Ontario Canada.
