Bill Getchell Memorial Fund

Dear family and friends,
It is with a heavy heart we announce the untimely death of our beloved Bill Getchell.
Bill passed away unexpectedly on September 15th doing what he’s always loved, running. Bill touched many people with his quiet and unwavering loyalty, his hard work, his infectious smile, his generosity and his readiness to laugh and see the humor in everything. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his wife Joann and daughter Zoe; they meant the world to him, and he was the light of their lives.
He was an entrepreneur, a lover of Boston sports teams and a beloved member of the many communities to which he belonged: his hometown of Westbrook, Maine; Colby College; University of Michigan; and most recently, Austin, Texas, where he has made his home the past 18 years. Bill also belonged to the special community of runners, dating from his high school and college varsity running days through to his many road races and ongoing training runs throughout Austin. On any given day Bill could be seen sprinting around any Austin trail, especially around Lady Bird Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bill Getchell Memorial Fund.
For any questions, please reach out to Mary Flanagan.
The Getchell family thanks you all for your kind thoughts and support.
