The Twining Family Cause

As many of you know, our dear Mike, 23, miraculously survived an overdose in early March. The road for Mike has been and will continue to be long. Shortly before losing his mother to a brain tumor (May 12, 2018), Mike had taken serious steps to become clean. He made incredible strides in finding a career path and moving forward. The pain and grief of his loss became a challenge for him and after 21 months of living clean, Mike succumbed to his addiction. His life was spared by the Grace of God, and his brother’s quick action. Mike suffered kidney damage and compartment syndrome. 7 surgeries were done to spare his leg and motor function. After 5 weeks in Shock Trauma and several more in a physical and occupational rehab facility, Mike is ready to move onto the business of getting clean and moving onward. Mike faces debilitating pain and has much difficulty walking. He mostly uses a wheelchair and a walker for short distances. He will require many more months of physical therapy with the possibility of not regaining 100% of his motor function. As you can imagine, almost three months of hospital and rehab costs have left us completely unable to afford Mike the care he needs for addiction counseling and rehabilitation. We have found a facility that will take him and provide both pain management and physical therapy in addition to substance abuse treatment. Mike is in agreement to take this step. While they do accept our insurance, the out of pocket cost is still $7500.00 plus airfare. We have also received a fair mountain of medical bills. The need to move on this all has hit very rapidly but we are trusting in God’s Plan for Mike. We are asking because we serve a Good God who has done so much for us and for Mike. God spared his life for a reason and we believe Mike’s story is still being written. That he might give all Glory to the One Whom all Glory is due, we are humbly asking our friends to support Mike and to support us.
