A Home Away From Homelessness Computer Fundraiser

A Home Away From Homelessness is an after school program that helps homeless and formerly homeless teens break the cycle of poverty by providing them with a stable, loving community of support.  We are a wrap-around program that seeks to fill the many gaps that these kids inherit.  Here, students receive one-on-one tutoring from volunteers, healthy meals, cultural enrichment activities and outdoor education, life skills training like cooking classes and Krav Maga, and help getting jobs and getting into college; all this within a close, loving community that pays attention to their individual needs and gives them both the inspiration and the tools to succeed.  We are not a stop-gap program--if there’s a need we identify it and address it.  Our mission is to change the trajectory of these kids’ lives by giving them a clear vision of success and the support they need to get there!

Today, the thing our program needs most urgently is computers.  Much of our students' homework has moved online, and computer literacy has become a prerequisite for success in our society.  From research, to online math programs and learning tools, to programming and computer literacy classes, working computers are essential for preparing these kids for the future. 

We are trying to raise $12,000 dollars by the end of January to provide the computer access that these kids need to succeed!
