Turn It Up for Tracey D. Turner

Donation protected

One of Pittsburgh's most beloved actresses, Tracey D. Turner, was a victim of a hit and run car accident on Friday, October 7, 2016. She was driving home after dropping off a fellow artist when she was struck by a hit and run driver. This accident occurred weeks after Tracey heroically faced a battle with breast cancer and underwent multiple surgeries. While recovering from the cancer she was excited to work with Prime Stage and was in rehearsal for a production of "To Kill a Mockingbird" and had also been offered an audition to star in a commercial for Visa, with Antonio Brown. Due to this accident, Tracey has lost both of these opportunities and will to be unable to work until she recovers from her injuries.

Tracey has had  6 surgeries to repair the injuries sustained to her arms, legs, tongue and facial orbital bone. The doctors have told her that she is a miracle, for not only did she survive this terrifying accident which has totalled her vehicle, but she is also recuperating very quickly. She is able to transfer from bed to wheelchair without assistence. We are not trying to make light of what will be a long road to a  full recovery, she has 5 hours of rehab every day, 6 days a week. She will be in a nursing home for 30 days and has to adhere to regularly scheduled rehababiltation program until she is fully functional.

The person who hit and run has yet to be identified, and her car had liabilty insurance, not comprehensive.  Her car is totalled and she has no transportation. As a single mother and independant actress, it is absolutely neccessary that she have a safe vehicle to get to her own doctor appointments, professional commitments and take care of her daughter's extracurricular activities and schedule. While it will be a minute before she can drive, her sister is coming in from Boston to help care for her daughter during this trying time and will need access to a car so her sister can help make these appointments happen, and to  help maintain a healthy and safe environment during this difficult period. Tracey is blessed to have friends and family to help with her daughter and search for the right vehicle, but she will also need help covering living expenses, childcare, medical expenses, medical supplies and occupational therapy.

Estimated expenses:
Safe, reliable, used car: $7000
Rent: $3000
Childcare:  $2000
Medical expenses not covered by Medicaid: $2000
Medical supplies, occupational therapy: $1000

Tracey's sister Shannon is arriving next week and we are hoping very much to have the funds available to purchase a vehicle as soon as possible. Tracey has asked us to say she is feeling blessed by the Lord and the outpouring of love she has received from her friends,  family, strangers and the wonderful caring doctors and nurses she has met in the medical community.

Tracey is not just a  friend, she is an artist, collaborator, lover of the arts, an extroidinairy talent of poignancy and depth, a loving mother, she brings characters to life on stage and we know when she recovers she will do so again. She is planning to work on her writing while she is laid up and she is a much needed voice in the artistic community. Any help is appreciated, in any amount. Please help us help Tracey and share this campaign far and wide. Give what you can, any amount is a blessing and we all look forward to thanking you in person with a performance and celebration of life in the future.

Signed, her friends-Phat Man Dee, Christiane Dolores and Mark Whitehead.
