Tulsa Welding School Education

Hi everybody! My name is Bobby Sims and I recently got accepted to the Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, Fl.  I'm looking to change my life and contribute to the resurgence of a dying industry by becoming a professional welder.

I need to relocate from Birmingham, AL to Jacksonville, FL by Wednesday, June 6th so that I can start school and attend orientation on June 7th. I am asking for assistance to cover the moving costs associated with my travel to Florida.

Here is my essay that I wrote that will tell you a little bit more about my passion for welding.

Recently, it has been frequently expressed that there is a lack of skilled tradespeople and vocational skills being utilized in the world today, specifically within the United States. There are so many articles about the abundance of opportunity not being met by available skilled people. For me, this involves the skill of welding and I am looking forward to doing my part in changing the outlook on the skilled trade industry.

I grew up in Atlanta, GA and during my years there, I became fascinated with buildings and welding from passing by the many big construction projects being erected all over city. Additionally, my dad, uncles, and cousin all work in the construction industry as a welder, iron worker or manager. The things they told me about the industry excited me even more, so to make my interest a reality, I joined a welding class that was offered at the age of 15 as I started high school. I absolutely loved it and, therefore, I finished the program throughout my completion of high school. I learned how to weld using 70:18 rods and 60:10 rods in a welding booth and learned how to weld plates together with no gaps. After all this time, I still love it and I want to attend Tulsa Welding School to further my welding career by becoming a professional welder. I plan to be one of the best students and demonstrate exceptional efforts to pass all tests and assignments. To do this I have to relocate from Birmingham, AL to Jacksonville, FL, which will bring about moving expenses. Any donations will help me get to Jacksonville, FL to be successful at accomplishing my goals and assist with housing while I start my journey. I am also very excited for the opportunity to become a more diverse individual by networking with my fellow students and teachers from different areas of the country.
