FIRE CHIEF MICHAEL SCOTT RELIEF

Donation protected
We at the Hillcrest Volunteer Fire Department come to you today on behalf of our fire chief, Michael Scott. Chief Scott was severely injuried on March 18th 2016 while operating on a large fire in Hoke County. He was initially transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for early care and treatment. Once it was deteremined his injuries were too severe for further care at Cape Fear Valley Chief Scott was transferred to UNC hospitals.
Chief Scott sufferred 2nd degree burns to both foreams, as well as burns to his hands, neck, face and head. Although we are very thankful that his injuries are not life threatening we are however still very concerned for his health and future with our department.
Chief Scott has been a member of the fire department for over 25 years, and has without question dedicated everyday of his life to give the citizens around him a safer and more stable community. Chief Scott pours his entire heart and soul into every aspect of our department and the people that he so proudly serves. He is a leader, a father, a brother, a son,  and a role model to more men and women than he will ever realize.
Chief is married with two children and relies on his hands for his fulltime job. The fire department is his life, however he works a fulltime job in an effort to provide a stable life for his family. During this time, unfortunately he will be unable to perform basic tasks and will not  be able to provide for his family.
Everyday is one day closer to Chief Scott's return, but until then we as a department, a community, and family must come together and pick up our mentor, and our leader.
Anyone that knows Chief Scott knows that he is the first person in line to lend a hand, a sarcastic comment or a dollar to a brother in need. This is our chance to stand together and show him how much he truly means to us. There are going to be countless tears shed during this process, as there are tears falling from my eyes as I write this. On behalf of his family, and the fire department we humbly request any donation that you may find in your heart to give. No amount is to small, no amount will go unnoticed.  Medical bills, loss of income, and any unforseen debts will continue to come months after the wounds begin to heal.
We at the Hillcrest Fire Department graciously thank you all for your prayers, thoughts and donations.
