Help Send Krissy to Mayo Clinic!

Donation protected

This is a plea to help an amazing mother, wife, and person go to the Mayo Health Clinic in Minnesota. I originally met Krissy 6 years ago through our jobs in the Johnson County court system. Back then, I was a baby deputy prosecuting attorney and she was a member of the court staff who helped me figure out the "ins and outs" of court. It is time that, instead of her helping me, I make it my mission to help her.

Krissy has struggled with gastroparesis almost all of her life.  She was originally diagnosed with gastroparesis  when she was only 6 months old.  She had a severe infection that her body could not fight off. The infection damaged her vagus nerve, which caused her not to be able to digest food properly.

Since her diagnosis, Krissy's body has struggled to deal with her illness. As a result of her gastroparesis, her body became severely malnourished. In July 2009, Krissy had to undergo a liver transplant because of her medical issues, and malnutrition, that resulted in her being placed on life support. Krissy has also had multiple feeding tubes, and has had a gastric pacemaker put in her stomach, to try to alleviate her symptoms. Even though these medical "fixes" helped for a short time, her condition ultimately continues to deteriorate.

Most recently, she has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.  Her doctor has informed her that if they perform surgery on the impacted area, she will have a colostomy bag for the rest of her life. The doctors have also expressed concern about doing the surgery because of her compromised immune system.

Even though she has always had a positive outlook, and kept her pain to herself, the most recent diagnosis of ulcerative colitis has been a huge blow.  Within the last few months, I have personally seen Krissy overwhelmed with pain and becoming increasingly hopeless about her diagnosis and medical options. She is only 44 years old and wants to be around for her husband and children for as long as possible.

Krissy wants to go to the Mayo Health Clinic in Minnesota for their opinion on her health issues. The Mayo Clinic is #1 in the country for its treatment/management of gastroparesis. She has researched the Mayo Clinic for years and has never been able to afford to go. Since Krissy's medical insurance would be out-of-state, the medical procedures at the Mayo Clinic are not something that insurance would cover (she has put in an appeal about this).  The $10,000 donation goal would be used to get Krissy to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. The funds would be spent on travel to the clinic, living expenses while she is in their care and unable to go to work, and medical bills from her testing and procedures performed at the Mayo Clinic.

Krissy is an amazing person that is such a light to those around her. She is always there to help others, but would never ask for help for herself. Right now, she needs our help. I want to see her regain hope that she can fight this and I truly believe that sending her to the Mayo Clinic can do that.

Please donate, but if you are unable to donate, please SHARE her link so that we can get this around to as many people as possible to help Krissy! Thank you all in advance for any help you can provide!
