Trip to the NABJ Convention

My name is Hunter Patterson, and as many of you may know, I am an aspiring sports broadcaster and journalist. My mom has been the single most supportive person in my life, doing whatever she can to help turn my dreams into reality. However, with LMU's tuition increasing annually, it has taken a financial toll on our family. At LMU, I'm going into my Junior year working on earning my Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies as well as double minoring in African American Studies and Journalism. In addition to my studies, I also work on campus as a sports broadcaster and have a radio show.

Next month on August 9th, the National Association of Black Journalists will be hosting our annual convention of young aspiring journalists of color. We, the members of the National Association of Black Journalists, are striving for credible journalism that portrays the voices and experiences of African Americans for a society and world that values us. This year's convention will take place in New Orleans over the course of five days, and will consist of workshops, scholarship jams, and task forces made up of current broadcasters like Stephen A. Smith and Charles Barkley.

This trip is essentially mandatory to my growth both as a young broadcaster as well as a young man. Any help you are willing to offer would be greatly appreciated, no gift is too small. Each contribution will assist me on my journey to become a successful sports broadcaster and journalist.
