Trilby for Gerry

Followers of my blog will know of the troubles I have been having with CurlingZone and their fantasy curling site. I have been seeking clarification from the man behind the scenes, Gerry Geurts , for quite some time. I have @mentioned him in tweets, I have posted to his forum , and I have emailed him directly, all to no avail. In fact, I feel that I may have offended him because the problem is strangely getting worse, and only seems to be affecting me.
So I have decided to try a "spoonful of honey" approach. Gerry is apparently a man who favors hats.
So I am hoping to buy him a really nice hat. If funded, I will contact Lock & Co. Hatters in London and order a hat for Gerry. They are widely regarded as some of the best hat makers and milliners in the world. I think the Memphis Trilby is a hat they make that fits Gerry's sensibilities. Yes, it is ridiculously expensive, but since Brexit , it is actually less ridiculously expensive than it was a few months ago.
I am hopeful that upon receipt of this beautiful piece of headwear, Gerry will consider going back through the first few weeks of this fantasy curling season and review the score tallies. I also hope he would look into the algorithms that run his site to ensure that fair scoring becomes a standard.
You may also be questioning why my target goal for this campaign is noticeably higher than the cost of the hat. Allow me to break it down for you.
- Memphis Trilby costs $237.63, based on today's conversion from British pounds.
- Shipping such a fine hat from London is $54.84, again based on today's conversions.
- While people are in the giving mood, I would hope to raise some money to offset the cost of my website ($144 for a year's of hosting and $26.34 for domain registrations.)
- I am also hoping to offset the backend costs of running the Fantasy Curling Bot for a year ($23.05).
- I am hoping to raise some money to become a supporting sponsor for the Schenectady Curling Club ($250). Fantasy user WarrMachine was an early follower and supporter of my work, so I would like to support his club in return.
- Kris and Jordan at the Stonecast podcast have also proven to be incredibly fun and generous. I would like to support their work as well (another $250).
So why would you give to this campaign?
First and foremost, I would hope that you feel the hallowed world of fantasy curling should be judged openly and fairly.
You may want to help contribute to giving Gerry (and a number of other nice people) heartfelt gifts.
You may be of the opinion that if a gentleman is to wear a hat, particularly indoors, it should be a nice hat.
Finally, maybe, just maybe you just giggled or snickered at some point in the last few minutes, and that should be worth a dollar or two.
Thank you for your time reading this, and if you are unable to support this cause, please consider spreading the word.
