Tribute to Ember

Donation protected
This has been one of the hardest things I will ever write.  Like everyone who has prayed and followed Ember’s journey, I never thought her life would be taken so short.  Everything about Ember was perfect.  A beautiful little ball of sass, a voice that would make your heart melt, and those eyes that would make you give into her every wish.  She stole so many hearts and had everyone in her family wrapped around her finger.

Everything in Ember and her family’s lives changed so quickly.  Last year she went from energetic and a typical 4 year old to being diagnosed with aplastic anemia and being confined to a hospital room.  During her stay she underwent a bone marrow transplant and spent 208 of the longest days in Children’s and then Ronald McDonald before coming home for a few short weeks.

Everyone believed Ember was in the clear and was well on her way to a better life, one that she and her family couldn’t wait for...a typical 5 year old.  They couldn’t wait for her to make up time lost, getting to do things any 4-5 year old could.

Unfortunately, Ember’s time at home was short.  She developed Graft vs Host Disease which led her back into the hospital and under intense medical care.  Ember passed at 2:30 on Monday, April 15th, surrounded by her family.

I have personally watched this family over the last year.  Her Nanny and Poppy never left her side, taking turns round the clock to make sure Ember always felt safe and loved while trying to understand at 4-5 years old what was happening.  I've watched them exhausted and scared turn and smile  to comfort while Ember cried in fear and pain.

This family has gone through so much in the last year (losing their youngest grandchild in March and Ember being diagnosed in May) but you never see them complain.  They put on their best to make sure their Princess knew she was loved and safe.

I ask that you please donate to help pay for funeral expenses and other necessities for the days to come.  A family is grieving the loss of their child/grandchild/niece/sister, I hate for them to have to stress over any expenses.
