Animal Farm Days - Keep them going!

For 33 years Trevena Glen Farm has offered the community of Brisbane the opportunity to experience the joy of farm animals - our farm currently has cows, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, guniea pigs and even a donkey named “honk”.
In short we are turning to the community for support, to fund the required changes to our existing DA approval and thus keep the open farm events available to the public!
In February 2017 we received some communication from the Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC) which effectively meant we were forced to cancel our Open Farm events (our newest way to experience the farm) until further notice.
Our open farm events became quite popular in 2016 and caused some issues in the immediate surroundings to the farm particularly in regard to parking. This led to one formal complaint from a neighbour which lead to the council informing us that we would need to apply for a "tourist attraction" permit. This is a very expensive process which is typically required by big businesses i.e. theme parks or a zoo. For a small family owned business, we felt that this was a little unfair for us to carry this sort of burden for an event which occupies 3 hours a month about 10 times a year, so 30 hours per year total.
Despite arranging off-road parking in a neighbour's property (for which we pay a small fee) and receiving no further neighbourhood complaints we still received a "show cause" notice which effectively meant the Council intended to prosecute unless an application was lodged, or the offending activity was halted.
Naturally this was disappointing as we believe that the open farm event offers a great opportunity for city families to experience a taste of life on the farm… It’s hard to describe what you feel when you see the joy on a child’s face or how families (including parents) relax and then connect almost as soon as they step through the gate.
We know that there are a great number of people out there in the community of Brisbane that have already experienced one or more of our open farms and would appreciate the opportunity to come to one in the future. We therefore invite you to help!
We believe that relationships matter most in life that's why we offer these types of memorable experiences to families. That’s why to everyone that donates over $20 we’d like to offer a “thank you” voucher (valued at $10) to attend our next Open Farm event, once they reopen!
Donations over and above our target of $57k we will direct toward building a playground for the kids. It will also serve as a reminder of your generous support!
