Caring4Girls -Trek4Mandela-Kili

This is NOT your typical GoFundMe campaign - It is a GoFund Nelson MANDELA EXPEDITION campaign...

I have been selected as one of three Americans out of 42 to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro on in honor and memory of Nelson Mandela and a cause dear to everyone who remembers what he stood for..In case you need a memory jogger- Watch the movie "Invictus" starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon - Directed by Clint Eastwood. 

 Please read on - 

1.     Everyone reading this has heard of Nelson Mandela - This is his 100th Anniversary (or centenary as it's called in South Africa) -

2.      We will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro as a way to bring Awareness and Attention to a problem affecting 500,000  young girls in South Africa -

3.       There is  a HUGE cultural taboo around the topic of menstruation.  During the time of the female menstrual cycle many girls do not go to school in part due to shame (around having a period) and in part because they cannot afford sanitary napkins. 

4.      Donations will be used to purchase sanitary napkins for 600 girls for ONE YEAR and bring Awareness to this problem in South Africa.  

2.      Directed and lead by the Nelson Mandela Foundation – It is NOT about Nelson (me) – We are working to help these girls /bring awareness and resources to this issue.

3.      So as part of the initiative several of us are climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro one of the 7 highest mountains in the world! 

4.      And I’m asking you to sponsor my efforts – Sponsor me to do this and I need your financial support.

5.     Last but not least - To highlight the importance of this historic event - On our summit attempt former President of the United States Barack Obama will be addressing the Foundation in South Africa.

The fact that I’m going to accomplish this – as a tool to put a spotlight on this and it’s a story we can share across the world – We’ll be able to tell a WINNING STORY -

Funds will be collected by StarLight Global (US 501c(3)) and then sent to Caring4Girls and the Nelson Mandela Foundation in South Africa.

The deadline has been extended and we need to receive funds NLT 15 JUNE 2018.
