Treatment for Alex Ray

Donation protected
Four weeks ago, my son came down with a simple strep throat infection. At this time he started to have swelling in lymph nodes, which we had assumed was part of the strep infection. He was treated with a course of antibiotics which treated the infection but the swelling in his throat continued to grow. We had no answers as to why this was happening.  He was referred to the ENT in Lubbock, Texas. Sunday morning they performed a biopsy on his lymph nodes and this morning, April 02, 2019, the biopsy results concluded the diagnosis of T-Cell Lymphoma.

He is currently still sedated and on a ventilator to help him breathe. He began chemo-therapy today along with steroid treatments that help the shrink the lymph nodes and then took a bone marrow sample to be tested as well. He is expected to stay in the hospital for another week but it may be longer depending on his reaction to the treatment. Once he is released from the hospital, we are looking at a very  long road to recovery. He will have treatments once a week in Lubbock for the first 6-8 months and then once a month after that. The treatment course is expected to run for the next three years.

With all of that being said, we are looking at a lot of traveling and lodging expenses. This is an extremely difficult time for our family and any help that could be given would be greatly appreciated.
