Science Olympiad Nationals Fund
On Saturday, April 8 the Treasure Valley Homeschool Science Olympiad Teams won first place in the State Science Olympiad competition. The two teams took part in 23 events focusing on various STEM disciplines, competing against 53 public and private schools from across the state of Idaho. They won 31 individual medals including 18 golds!
The 14-student high school team medaled in 19 out of 23 possible events. The 13-student middle school team medaled in 12 events. As you can imagine, these students put in countless hours of study, research, building, and testing since joining the team in September and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.
Now, for the first time, these two new teams will be representing Idaho by attending the National Science Olympiad competition at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio on May 19-20.
There are 27 students plus coaches and chaperones that will be making this trip to the National competition. Airfare ($691 each), lodging and meals will cost about $32,000. We are requesting that each student do their best to raise funds so that they can contribute to the staggering cost of this trip. However, with only a month to raise this amount of money, we are asking for help and trying to raise $24,000 to ensure that all students who qualified are able to go regardless of their ability to pay
Please consider donating to help these 27 students and their coaches attend the National competition. It is an honor for them to represent the state of Idaho and the homeschool community at the National competition. This incredible opportunity has the potential to inspire 27 young people to further their studies in the field of science and will undoubtedly have a lasting impact upon their lives.
Thank you for your consideration.
