Travis' Medical Fund

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Travis Johnson. I am a 20 year old, college student from Oregon and have suffered a tremendous injury due to an attempted murder and kidnapping. I am trying to raise money in an attempt to lighten my load of extreme medical expenses.  My very high medical expenses should be covered by those who did this to me, but since they have yet to be found, are left with my father to pay. Specifically the money will go towards surgeries removing plates and screws from my face, and my 8-9 oral surgeries which will end up costing well over 6 figures due to lack of sufficent dental insurance,  but must be done in order for me to resume my normal mouth operations like eating solid food, closing my mouth correctly, and most importantly, smiling.
Walking home from a friends house, on August 30th 2015, 6 days before my 20th birthday, between the hours of 12-1 in the morning, I was jumped and brutally assaulted only to be dropped off and left for dead on a 22 acre abandoned paper mill in Oregon City, Oregon. I woke up in the middle of the night, phone missing, shirtless, with rain beating down on my back, beat to a pulp and quickly realizing that I needed to find some sort of warmth before it was too late, yet not fully realizing the extent of my injuries. I found shelter in an old employee locker room that was luckily about 50 feet from where I awoke, up a small flight of stairs. I crawled into the room, fortunately found an old emplyees flannel, wrapped myself up and fell asleep on a small pillow on the ground.

I awoke again in the afternoon at about 1:00 o'clock, this time realizing something was seriously wrong and knowing that if I didn't find help quick, things may take a turn for the worst. I found an old broom stick and used it as a cane to start my trek out of the mill. I quickly came to realize that my life was slipping away when I had to "take naps" every 15 or 20 feet I had walked. I kept waking up with large puddles of blood under my face and would keep walking towards what I hoped was the exit of the mill. After an hour of walking, I saw a small portable office trailer with a car parked outside of it. The door swung open from the office and out came a security guard quickly coming to see what was wrong. He could tell from a distance I was seriously hurt and proceeded to call 911.

Next thing I know, I am at the hospital in ICU with doctors racing around me doing all kinds of tests. It turns out I had a lefort fracture meaning the area from my forehead accross my jaw and all the way down to my upper lip was broken and seperated from my skull, allowing fluid to start leaking into my brain. My skull was cracked in several spots and brain surgery would be needed in an attempt to save my brain. Both my eye sockets were crushed, my nose was badly broken, along with my sinuses being destroyed and later removed. My jaw was broken, chin was completely shattered, and 6 teeth were knocked out during the assault.

It is now a little more than two months since the crime took place and the police and detectives still have no leads. I have lost my sense of smell and hearing in my right ear, but just feel lucky to be alive and not have brain damage. I have never been one to ask for much help, but I think this is a perfectly justifiable time to start asking. I ask you to please find it in your heart to help me raise money to not only get me back to "normal" and back to school where I eagerly await to start taking classes again, but also to help my dad "come up for air" in this extremely difficult situation. I can guarantee that your donations will not go un-noticed and I will be forever in debt to those who decide to help. Whether it be 10 cents, 10 dollars, or 100, every donation brings me one step closer to my goal, and one step closer to "freedom".  I cannot begin to express how thankful I am for all the love and support I have already received and will not take for granted the continued support from family, friends, and all of you that is sure to come. I thank you for taking the time to read this, and hope together we can achieve the goal of a better life.
