The New "Quantum" Vision Exhibit

What Is the Exhibit

As I mentioned in the video, my campaign is about inspiring people to experience new ways of looking at and thinking about their world. I will do that through the traveling museum exhibit of my paintings along with quotes of theoretical physicists and other scientists placed next to them (see examples below). This exhibit celebrates the powerful inquisitiveness and creativity of the human spirit.

I depict in my paintings the world I see through different levels of perception, and these experiences are open to everyone to explore. These shifts in perception are so important, for they bring with them a feeling of exhilaration and a sense of fulfillment.

How This Exhibit Came to Be

One influence was a conversation I had with a lady who was telling me that as she was driving through the southwest, the scene before her suddenly burst open, revealing a high energy life force holding and radiating from all the forms of the landscape—what I call the unified field. She said the experience was accompanied by a sense of wonder and peace and that what triggered the whole thing was looking at one of my landscape paintings two days before. How this is possible I do not know, but it did create in me the desire to share my art with more people so that they, too, perhaps would have a similar experience—an experience that for some could become a pivotal point of change in their lives.

The next event that gave rise to this exhibit was a local festival. I wanted to raise the energy of the event for the people putting it on by hanging my paintings in the main building where the festival was taking place. (It was one of just a few times in over twenty years that I publicly displayed my artwork.) I was enjoying watching how my art was touching people. One person came up and said, “Your paintings belong in museums.” Within the next few hours, four people came up to me and said the same thing. By the fourth one, something in me clicked and this idea was birthed.

Yet, there is one other important element in this exhibit and that arose out of a series of conference calls. On the call were people in the United States as well as Europe, and we would discuss the physical as well as the metaphysical nature of the world and of our existence. We were inspiring each other on the call to move beyond concepts into real experiences. I would always be out at the Headlands looking over the coast watching my perceptions shift as we shared our insights. We were very fortunate to have one person on the call that was a professor emeritus of physics. No matter how my perceptions would shift into seeing a higher reality—whatever the perceptions were, his words would exquisitely frame my experiences and highlight them in the words of theoretical physics—a physics that I was beginning to see was incredibly alive. His words touched everyone, bringing an added dimension to everyone’s experience. So, at the festival event when the fourth person said my art belonged in museums and I knew that would be my new direction, immediately came the idea to combine my paintings with inspirational passages from the world’s top theoretical physicists.

Paintings and Quotes

There are 47 paintings available for the exhibit. The following are just a few examples,  with the quotes next to them. Some of these paintings are quite large and need to be experienced directly to feel their full effect.

(The breakdown of the budget for the exhibit is at the end.)

Presentations

My proposal states that I will give a presentation, “Experiencing A New Perception,” at the museum/venue where the exhibit is occurring, using images of my paintings, as well as give a presentation at a couple of the local high schools and at the community college to inspire the students. This personal exploration into different ways of looking at one’s world can bring a new heightened enthusiasm towards living, which many young people are so desperately in need of. I also want to spark their curiosity, motivating them to go to the museum and there, perhaps, to find a new dynamic relationship to art and science.

Bio

Here it could be helpful if I gave a brief curriculum vitae of my career. I have been an active artist producing paintings since 1970 when I changed my major at Clemson University from engineering to art studio. That was when I discovered my true passion for art. I have been diligent and dedicated to my calling as an artist ever since. I continued my development as an artist when I apprenticed under the nationally known artist Richard Goetz in the early seventies for a brief time, followed by attending the University of Santa Barbara and Chico State University, from 1980 to 1985.

As I mentioned above, in 1996 I pulled away from the gallery art scene to go deep into a contemplative life—a life of open-eyed meditation, 8 to 12 hours a day and often more for many days of the week. Out of this exploration, a rich new way of looking at my world and a new approach to painting arose. Besides objects becoming more alive and energetic in my perception, a sense of what I call a “unified field” holding, permeating, and emanating from everything arose, as well as the perception of this world existing in a dimension. These perceptions, I found, do not subtract from this physical experience but only add to its mystery and wonder.  They also seem to parallel, in many ways, some of the theories of quantum physics.

All this I began to give visual expression to in my paintings, which I then put into the educational art website I was creating, (www.perception4u.com). Through the exercises on the website, I was attempting to open up to others their own revelations of deeper levels of perception. Over time a substantial number of paintings were created. I knew that one day they would be the source of future exhibits.

As I watched people interfacing with the website I realized that some individuals needed a more emotional approach to exploring perception. So, in 2013 I began writing and illustrating a book with the idea that through the life of the protagonist, people could experience new ways of looking at their world. My illustrated book, "Tobe and the River Is" was published in 2016. It is a whimsical fairytale full of living metaphor. The “River Is” is itself a metaphor for the matrix of the unified field that surrounds us.

The book has already won two Global eBook Awards, one for illustrations, The New Apple Book Award, followed by the prestigious Ben Franklin Award and the Nautilus Book Award. The last award was especially meaningful because it was in the Memoir Category, which means that they understood it is not just a made-up fairytale. It is based on experience. And I surmised, if the reader realizes it is based on my experiences, they will be more likely to make it real for themselves.

In closing, I would like to say that this traveling exhibit has the potential to touch many people in very positive ways. It’s about love; it’s about caring for others. I feel that is what makes this project so valuable and worthy of your support. None of this will I get paid for, from what I understand. With your financial assistance, I will keep my focus on the exhibition, attending to the large as well as all the minute details that go into an exhibit like this. Your gift will help me to meet the cost of the studio and its running, the cost of art supplies and framing, printing,  shipping, and exhibition costs, plus travel expenses to give my interactive presentations, as well a few of my basic living expenses. And the more funds there are, the longer the exhibit can travel to more museums and venues across the country through the upcoming years.

Please join me in offering this gift of a heightened perception to others. Thank you and may we change the world together, one perception at a time!

Please mention this project to your friends and relatives, especially those who are interested in art, or who are into science and theoretical physics. And mention it also to those who just want to bring a positive influence to the world.

Your generous gifts of $5 -$10 are greatly appreciated. They are so important and what, in the end, could make this campaign be successful.

For gifts of $150 and above, I would like to express my gratitude by giving you something in return: a signed hardback copy of my illustrated book, "Tobe and the River Is."

For gifts of $350 and above, besides a signed book, I would also like to give a gift of a limited edition giclée print of your choice (20” long dimension). To pick a print go to my gallery www.perception4u.com/artgallery.

Please state whether you are interested in these gifts when you donate and mention which print it is that you wish (if your donation is above $350). Also, please give me your mailing address. You can email me at [email redacted].

Thank you again,
