Trans Trenderz, The Hip Hop Mixtape

Donation protected

"It's 2016.
Cis people think they are alone in the Hip Hop industry.  Emerging from the shadows, a group of trans Hip Hop vigilantes are uniting to fight for love, justice, and the trans trender way."

My name is Lucas Charlie Rose, I am the producer and curator of the first trans-only Hip Hop mixtape.

Throughout my career as an openly trans hip hop artist, I've often received comments like "Trans people don't belong in Hip Hop." which I find extremely insulting knowing how important this culture is to us.
Black trans people belong in Hip Hop. Yet, our narratives are silenced within this culture. And that doesn't sit right with me.
(I wrote a piece about it on trans.cafe just the other week: here .)

If cisgender people refuse to make space for us within the Hip Hop industry, we must make space for ourselves.

This is why I decided to start Trans Trenderz.
The Trans Trenderz mixtape is a non-profit compilation of songs from popular and emerging trans Hip Hop artists including but not limited to Sidney Chase, Nicki Andro, Neeko Freeman, Khaleb G., Dane Figueroa Edidi, Felli, Carté Blanche and many more.
The songs featured on 'Trans Trenderz' have been exclusively produced, written and recorded for this mixtape. They will then be released on every digital streaming platform and for free download on DatPiff.com.

That's right. The music will be 100% free.

The only problem I have now is that I am in no position to finance the release and promotion of this mixtape. which is why I am asking for your help. We are asking for your help.

We are seeking 1000$ cad (approximately 750$ usd) to help us push this project into the spotlight.

This is how the money will be used:

- 500$ will go to online promotion. Sponsoring posts on facebook and instagram, submitting the tracks to online music blogs, etc...

- 150$ will go to submitting the mixtape to the platforms it will be released on. Spotify, Deezer, 8tracks, Apple Music and a sponsorship on DatPiff.com so that anybody can enjoy the music for free!

- 150$ will go to submitting the tape to various radio stations accross North America.

- 200$ will go to cover last minute technical difficulties. Which mostly involves buying pop filters for the artists won't don't have one (and making my mixing job a lot easier) and an emergency recording studio session for one of our featured artists.

With your help we can make Hip Hop a safer space for Trans people!

Please keep in mind that every single artist on this mixtape has been volunteering their time as this is purely a non-profit project. Most of these artists are trans people of color.

You can find out more about the mixtape on our facebook page: Trans Trenderz
