Hi friends,
we are currently facing times of intolerance. It’s important in the current social climate that we find pathways to compassion and empathy which is why I created "Grandma D and the Magic Book Machine". Grandma D & the Magic Book Machine is a puppet driven story time series for kids as early as 2, that promotes these key characteristics along with ideas for acceptance as well as many other different serious issues like anti-bullying or "what a family is to you", just to name a few.
We provide a safe space for diversity among reading friends and encourage inclusion for ALL who want to read, especially in a world that time and time again misses important moral and ethical treatment of one another.
Through the past two years we have developed a new and unique way of exploring day to day issues that ALL children will go through as they grow. With each story, there is a lesson for the little ones to take and spread across their big worlds. And we'd love to come read and educate through puppetry with your kids!! We use modern books and authors to accentuate our points to help encourage the children to seek out these books and other books at the children's libraries to enhance their knowledge on subjects we talk about.
As an ECE instructor and teaching artist, I strove to incorporate moments with in the show that are "milestone markers" for the ECE instructors to document and give workable information to take back to the classroom to continue to advance discussion, even among the earliest of ages. I incorporate language appropriate for those early developmental years, yet entertaining enough even an older child can enjoy and take away a lesson or new way of looking at something.
