Tracie Zoll combats cancer

Donation protected
I met Tracie last spring at a retirement party when we were introduced by a mutual friend. We sat at the table getting to know each other and my introverted self was happy to find another introvert in the crowd. Tracie is an easy person to get to know and her smile is so sweet and genuine. She is a kind person and loves her family.  No one ever deserves a cancer diagnosis and yet it is all too common these days. The diagnosis brings all sorts of emotions, questions, fears and then there are the medical bills, the lost wages and so many other unforeseen costs. Tracie is humble and wouldn't ask for anything but her work colleague, Beth Hall, and I wanted to provide a way for people to help Tracie and her family not only financially but with words and prayers of encouragement.  Here is Tracie's story in her own words:

"Dean and I met in August 1988, on the front steps of a mutual friends house.  We were 14 & 16 years old.  Fast forward 30 years...we are now married 18 years and have one, 11 year old son.  Last Summer we adopted a six year old puppy mill rescue dog named Subi.  She is the highlight of our day.  Dean works for the Sheriff's Office as a Security Support Specialist, and I am an Educational Assistant/Reading Teacher.  We value our friends and extended family, our work, and most of all, spending time together and traveling as a family.

This past Fall, we started planning a Summer trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park.  We saved and planned and were anticipating all that we would see on this ten day family adventure.  These plans are now put on hold for awhile.

My husband, Dean, was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in January.  He had been having splitting pains in the back of his head.  He had an MRI on January 3rd, and the next week we thought he would need surgery.  The neurologist said he is okay to wait until the next MRI scheduled in May.  He is crippled with pain some days and sometimes can not go to work.  Depending on what they find on the next MRI, neurologists may recommend a surgical procedure to prevent a stroke.

A couple weeks later after shoveling our driveway, I found a lump on the side of my right breast.  After a few tests and a biopsy, I was shocked with more terrible news.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer on February 20th.  I started chemotherapy Wednesday, March 27th and will continue treatment for 20 weeks.  Surgery will most likely follow chemotherapy in late August/early September.

I will be on a limited work schedule for the last part of the school year and possibly into September.  This is why we are in need of help from our family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors.  It is very hard for us to ask for help! We have to lean on others right now and we are so grateful for any personal service you may be able to provide or monetary donations you give.  The care and love you choose to give will help us pay for out of pocket insurance expenses and a few monthly responsibilities.

We value your friendship and your compassion during this rough journey we are on.  Please know we are grateful!

Sincerely,
Tracie and Dean Zoll
