Help Our Mission get a new roof

$4,670 of $4,500 goal

Raised by 51 people in 43 months
My name is Fr. Alexis Baldwin. I am the priest at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Mission in North Augusta, SC. In October of 2014, I was assigned to Holy Resurrection (an OCA mission in the Diocese of the South) which is home to a small, but dedicated Mission community which continues to spread the Gospel of Christ and work to establish an Orthodox presence in our area.

We have been blessed to have arrived with an already acquired piece of land.

For the first few months, we worked to secure and allot funds for renovation for a little chapel.  From this:

To this:

One of the aspects we have discovered about our renovations is that our roof is not in great shape. This pre-existing building that is now our chapel needs updating/renovation work for the roof.

Roof renovation would be completed by the same local contractor who completed our initial chapel work. The new roof would be a metal one, instead of the current worn out shingle one. The total cost of completed work is estimated to be $6,000.

As a small mission community of four or so families, we have pulled together $2,000 in building funds. We have nearly enough to give the down payment required to initiate the work. What we are hoping to accomplish with our gofundme project is help to secure the rest of the funding to complete the work.

GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST! GLORY FOREVER!

We at Holy Resurrection humbly express our profound appreciation to all our benefactors, the ones who contributed to funding a new roof for our mission chapel. Many people from many places generously helped provide the funds necessary to make this happen, and in a unimaginably expedient length of time.

The Roof renovation was completed by the same local contractor who completed our initial chapel work. The installation of the new metal roof provides us with a corrected, long-lasting architecturally sound crown to the current chapel.

Again, we express our deep gratitude for those who have helped us expand the mission in North Augusta by helping us provide a more suitable, orderly chapel for those who worship and will come to worship our Lord at the Divine Services. You all have helped to make the Mission grow here by your generous giving!

We pray for you all and hope that one day you might come and see our community and worship with us in our 'little country church' in North Augusta.

God Bless you all!

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

With joy and graciousness, I am happy to announce that, by the Grace of God, we have received all the donations necessary to help Holy Resurrection get a new roof!

We wish to express our thankfulness to all who have donated, all our benefactors are in our prayers!

We continue to work to grow our community in North Augusta, striving to be a the witnesses of Christ Love and Truth that we as Orthodox Christians are called to be.

Our new roof allows us to move forward in that witness and continue to do the work of our Mission, to continue to grow. We are so very thankful for all of you for helping make that possible.

We would love to express our gratitude to you each personally. Please contact our mission either through facebook:

An Orthodox Priest is a cultivator.

By God's Grace, he, through his priestly ministry, cultivates the hearts of the people.

He is called to cultivate the community; the flock in the midst of whom he has been placed. The priest, as their pastor, is to lead them in the work of Repentance that they might more deeply pursue communion with Christ, Who loves His people. Archbishop John Shahovskoy wrote in his work, "The Orthodox Pastor", that "a pastor's aim is to be true 'spiritual father,' to lead all men to the One Heavenly Father."

Since October, we have all worked hard to cultivate our little Mission community here in North Augusta, SC. We continue to 'till the soils' by our presence and witness.

We thank God for all those who have generously responded to our GoFundMe campaign. You are all in our prayers!

In just over a month, 90% has been raised. We are very, very close to meeting our goal to fund a new roof. Many of the recent donations been contributed through direct/snail mail. We are almost there, let's keep going!

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

All of us at the Mission community of Holy Resurrection are incredibly humbled and thankful for the immense outpouring of donations received to help fund a new roof.

Incredibly, in just a month, over 80% of the goal has been met! A huge thanks to all who have donated, especially those by “snail mail” which have helped come very close to meeting our funding goal. You are all in our prayers!

We have been busy beautifying the entrance to the Church chapel. All the rain we have received in the past few weeks has helped grow the fruit of this work.

We are very close to meeting our goal. For offline donations, please see our website:
