 PINCKNEY, MI
On the morning of April 30th our friend Tom Harris was in a  very serious car accident. He was unresponsive immediately following the accident, and was flown by life flight to University of Michigan University Hospital for treatment.  Tom was intubated, sedated, and diagnosed with a closed head injury. Today, Tom is  breathing on his own, and is able to open his eyes for brief periods of time. He has been able to mumble words, and even expressed his love for his wonderful wife, Sarah. While Tom is progressing every day, the Dr.'s still anticipate a long recovery period. The Harris family is going to lose his much needed income at this time.  Tom, Sarah, and their two sons are incredibly kind hearted, and they need our help right now. A donation of any size is very much appreciated, and will go towards the cost of running their household. Thank you!

We will receive an MRI today or in the morning to see how extensive the brain injury is. Tom is awake, opening his eyes but does not focus on anything or anyone. He is talking up a storm, mostly mumbling about work. He is unable to follow commands.I was able to have him give me a kiss. He's giving the nurses a run for their money! He is very active and can stand on his own. He keeps trying to sit up in bed. PT/OT came to see him today and think he will probably need to go to a brain injury center for further therapy as he heals. The unknown of how he will be mentally and not knowing if I will have my husband back is more than I can take today. Please continue prayers and positive thoughts. Thank you to everyone for all of your support, it means so much to us. Please pray for my children especially, they are being so brave.

Per Sarah's Facebook:
Update on Tom: Drs just in. Will do MRI to see how bad brain injury is eventually. They are not happy that he is waking up so slowly. He had a rough night, very agitated and had to restrain his hands. One word answers to questions occasionally but a lot of mumbling ( a few F bombs, lol). Had opened his eyes briefly a few times. It's going to be a long road to recovery they think. Continued prayers

I was so very sorry to read about Toms accident. He is at a wonderful hospital though. My husband as been battling Stage IV colon cancer for almost 7 years and has gotten top notch care at U of M. Pray he comes back to you. I graduated Highschool with Tom. Gods blessings for peace and strength.
