Our Story
Christiana, a practicing behavior therapist who specializes in working with children and families, and her husband Isaac , have since 2011 opened their home to almost 50 kids of all ages, (even day old babies) of all races and backgrounds within the foster care system.
These children come into their home holding all of their possessions (if any) in a trash bag, broken, hungry, afraid and uncertain about their future. They however leave their home after some months healed and restored and focused to face the challenges ahead of them in a better state. The couple within the period could not help but adopt four beautiful kids.
This charity basically is to bring our experiences gathered over the years to make our center a place of comfort and support for all children in the community.
Our focus will be on kids struggling to thrive in school and in the community for lack of appropriate social skills or for kids in the foster care system or adopted kids still struggling with their situation. Our center will be the listening ear especially for them.
Links To Hope through our programs will seek to help build the self esteem and social skills of all kids that come to us. Our outreach team will visit schools to educate teachers and students on the burden they unintentionally place on such kids they encounter.
Programs
Children in our programs will build appropriate social and communication skills to replace the newest addiction as declared by the world health organization; video games and the use of technology. Robotics, music lessons, drawing sessions, story telling and other exciting play activities will be alternative programs to substitute for this addiction.
We will visit schools and be at community fairs and exhibitions to educate the community on our programs.
We offer parenting programs and will educate parents, prospective foster and adoptive parents. We also will coach parents who are struggling with how to deal with their children at our center.
Like the famous Chinese proverb goes “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now” Help us to plant a tree now. Resource us by donating today.
Your donations will help us acquire a center for our activities, purchase toys and hands on play resources for our programs, books and resources for our library, provide transport for our activities and also resource our onsite professional staff and volunteers who may come in as and when needed ($5,000.00 per month).
