Hello Friends and Family,
It is with a very heavy heart that we are sending this out to ask our community and circle of friends and family for help in a crisis situation. Beth and Orlando(Rola) Torres have been married for many years and together have built an incredible family including 2 children, a son age 15 and a daughter age 9. They are very near and dear to my heart. This family has dealt with devastation over the last 2.5 years back to back. It all started when Rola was diagnosed with throat cancer about 2.5 years ago and he Whooped it!!! Last year however Rola wasn't feeling well and went into the hospital. It was there the Torres family lives changed. Rola was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney/lung cancer. Even with this news, Dr's and Specialists were hopeful for survival for many years to come. However, despite many treatments of various types they were not successful and the cancer has now spread into his head and throughout his body. Beth was laid off from her job for a year and has just recently(very recently) 2 months ago started back at work full time. This is wonderful news for the family except that the life insurance has a 6 month waiting period as well as the insurance- this means there will be no life insurance or Burial insurance. Beth is also not eligible for FMLA or the ability to work from home. Hospice is working diligently to support the family and so are friends and other family members. The financial strain that this family is enduring and will in the near future is devastating. I am sending this out in hopes that this mother of two who has held it together and never asked for a thing, rather always given everything she's had to others receive some relief to know that she will indeed be able to give her husband and father of her children a proper burial and maintain her bills , food, life while still trying to keep her head above water, all the while comforting her children and spending any time she can with the love of her life.
