Top Surgery Fund / Double Mastectomy
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Niall. I am trying to raise money to have a bilateral double mastectomy - top surgery.
I am 45 years old and have been openly out as transgender since 2015. The reason I did not come out sooner, was partly down to denial, and partly due to a serious heart condition that first appeared when I was 13. It was never properly diagnosed but it appears as a mutated version of CPVT. As a result I have a internal defibrillator. Before I can have top surgery I need to have my AICD moved or removed.
It took my GP over a year to send my referral to a Gender Identity Clinic. The Clinic lost the referral and I had to prove it had been sent. eventually the Clinic accepted that they had it. So far I have been waiting 28 months (over 2 years) and have recently been told it could be another 24 months (2 years) before I receive my first appointment...and another 24 months (2 years) before I get surgery. I think over 6 years to get surgery on the NHS is too long to wait for anyone.
I have been on Testosterone for two years (via shared care) and have extreme dysphoria, and PTSD (from my illness as a child). Please help me raise approximately £5000 which is a big chunk of the money I would need to get private surgery. It would totally change my life. At this age I just want to live a happy life with my partner and my amazing thirteen year old daughter, in the body I was meant to be born with. I hope to get surgery within the next 18 months.
Thank you.
Niall
