Toni Latino's Recovery

Donation protected
Hello, my sister Jessica and I, Brandon, are writing this in hopes of a speedy recovery of the traumatic domestic abuse that happened to our mother, Toni Latino. On Monday, March 6th my sister and I had a bad feeling something wasn’t going on right with our mom and her boyfriend. We decided to call the police to do a welfare check on her. After countless hours of the police waiting for a reasonable cause to enter my mom’s home, they then forcibly entered to find her badly beaten and bruised head to toe. I knew something mentally wasn’t okay with my mother because she wasn't speaking normal.  She was rushed to the emergency room where nurses feared that her bad bruises near her kidneys may have caused internal damage to them. The CT scan resulted that her kidneys were fine but she had bleeding in her brain. She was then moved into the Neuro trauma Intensive Care Unit. She has been having bad memory problems and keeps repeating herself.  She had her surgery scheduled a day or so in advanced but the doctors rushed her into surgery last night because she was becoming unresponsive to the nurses. The surgery was a hour procedure where they drilled a hole the size of nickel above the frontal lobe of her brain. They then inserted a tube to drain the blood which was putting pressure on her brain. They expect her to be in the hospital for a week or so. She is doing better any her memory is starting to slowly come back.

Shawn Richter, the sick man who did this to her repeatedly for over the course of week kept my mom hostage in her own home. He refused to let her attend a close family member’s funeral and would not let her see her grandson Karsen, who is her whole entire world. He beat her over the head, pushed and kicked her around to where she fell to her knees and elbows so many times that they  are scabbed and bruised. She was left immobilized because her brain was so damaged form the repetitive hits to the head causing her to stay in her bed for days. She then was woken up daily to find him on top of her consistently hitting her in the head. If we didn’t have the feeling something wasn’t right with our mom she would've died because the surgery was necessary for her survival.

Unfortunately, my mother wasn't the first women he had beaten. There are multiple women that have been attacked by him. Our family wasn’t aware of any of his actions because he made my mother so scared to tell anyone. She was in fear that he would take her life.

The money donated will be used to help make her transition back to home from the hospital better. We found her house completely trashed and uninhabitable. With what little money she already had he had taken all of it for beer, dip, and drugs causing her bills to not be paid. She’s extremely behind on bills. There are no hygiene products at her home and absolutely no food is there. She also has 3 amazing dogs that were neglected during this duration as well. The front door needs to be replaced after the police department forcefully entered the home. She also does not have a car and are family has been taking turns the last couple months by taking her to her regular appointments with her doctors. She has numerous medical conditions that need to be regularly monitored, now including her brain trauma.  Shawn also destroyed her phone that is nowhere to be found. We plan on getting her a new phone so we can be able to keep in close contact.

Anything to help would be so greatly appreciate by our whole family. We are all sleepless trying to make sure our mother is going to be okay and that this man gets the full extent of the law.  We have been so grateful for all the concerned family members and friends. She is also being treated by the most wonderful nurses and doctors anyone could ask for.  We will keep everyone updated on her recovery. My mother also would like to thank everyone from the bottom of her heart. It’s very hard for her right now because she’s just been so used to being treated like an animal by this guy.

Again, our whole family thanks everyone for the kind words, prayers, and support.
