Tom Beland

On March 26, 2019 Tom was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer- stage III.  As he starts chemotherapy and radiation treatment and eventually gets an Esophagectomy, he will definitely be out of work. When/if he is able, he will have to get a new job as the college he was working at is closing. Until that time, Mom will be the sole provider. There are going to be financial needs as time goes on. The first need is going to be for a sleep number bed. The way the Esophagectomy is done, he will never be able to sleep flat again. He will always need to be at an incline, as the part of the esophagus that gets removed is the piece that prevents regurgitation. It is a long recovery before he will be able to eat solids.  (he is actually in surgery now getting a Jtube and port put in.) We want him to be as comfortable as possible and want Mom and Dad to be able to sleep in the same bed so will be fundraising for a King size. All other donations will be used for medical bills and any other bills that may arise. Mom is working as much as she can but she is limited on how much she can do as she truly does need to be close by in case something happens. Ask any doctor and they will tell you this cancer is one of the worst because it really takes away your ability to eat.  It will be a long road to recovery, and we are so grateful for every prayer and well wish sent. We feel them all. I will update when new information becomes available but we are truly endlessly grateful.
