-Alma 40:12.

David Vaca, better know as “Gigio” by his family and friends was born on August 19, 1988 in Quito-Ecuador. David was blessed with a loving home. Luisa and Francisco, his parents, built an ideal environment to nurture David and his siblings Francisco (Kacho) and Veronica (Pancha). From a young age his happiness was felt wherever he went. During his youth he cultivated noble friendships and became known for his willingness to serve others. David chose to become a missionary and was called to serve in the Arequipa-Peru mission. For two years he shared the gospel with love and diligence. Upon returning from his mission he continued to be a faithful servant of the Lord and started planning for his future. In this way and thanks to his dedication and perseverance he had the opportunity of studying in the USA. He has resided in Indiana since 2013. It was during this same year where David married his best friend Estefania Araujo. Together they were blessed with a beautiful family in which they welcomed two children, Franco and Manuela. David was a devoted husband and a loving and responsible father. He was an example to all and his light was shared with all those who had the privilege to get to know him.

A few weeks back while he was near the completion of his Master’s degree, David was admitted to the hospital as he presented pain and discomfort in his abdomen. After several days and countless medical exams he was diagnosed with cancer. In spite of the difficult circumstances David never failed to show his faith in God and remained calm. His health deteriorated quickly but his spirit stood firm and steadfast, filled with hope.

He fought the good fight for many days and he did so in good spirits and determined to move forward, the same way in which he lived his life. Heavenly Father called him to rest and return to his eternal home, it was in this moment when filled with sorrow we had to say “until we meet again” to a son, a brother, a husband, father, friend and a good and faithful servant of the Lord.

This campaign has the goal of raising funds to be used for David’s funeral expenses. The family hopes to be able to take his body to Ecuador where his siblings and family can have a chance to bid farewell to an extraordinary man. Also that the family may have financial support to cover the expenses acquired during these hard times.

Family, friends and all those who one way or another have been touched by David’s work on earth. The time is now, we need to come together. The Vaca-Araujo family would like to express how grateful they are for your support, prayers, fastings and messages of love and support that have been crucial during this time.

“And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow.” -Alma 40:12
