Toby's Autism Therapy Training

Donation protected
Two years ago at the age of 2.5 years old, Jackson was diagnosed with Autism. Jackson (now 4 years old) currently receives Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapies in school.  In addition, he also receives in home ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapy 40 hours a week.  Even with all the therapies Jackson receives he suffers from anxiety, sensory processing disorder, and has imense trouble socializing with peers his own age. In August of 2016, he received a birthday gift... an 8 week old Lab whom we've named Toby. From the day Toby came to his forever home he bonded with Jackson.  They will play fetch, run around the back yard, go for walks (with mom and dad), and lay and snuggle together.  Jackson is Toby's human. Out of the four of us, Toby picked Jackson.  Sensing Jackson was different.  Jackson shows affection hard... hard hugging.  Jackson also has meltdowns when angered or being overstimulated.  Toby puts up with all of Jacksons love and aggression and has never once growled, snapped, or whined,  He is truly a special dog.  We decided we wanted Toby to have therapy training for Jax.  Toby will be there for his meltdowns.  Learning during his episodes to just simply lie down next to Jax. So he can pet him and snuggle him and help bring his frustration levels down. Toby will learn to alert Jax's father and myself and herd Jackson if Jackson leaves an unsafe area (Jackson has no sense of danger) such as the fenced in yard, attempt to cross the street, wander from myself or his dad in a store, fair grounds, etc.  He will help lower his anxiety at doctor and dental visits.  He will help break the ice so to speak to help him engage in socialization with peers his own age.  Toby will have to receive training in learning not to jump, socialize in different areas of the community such as playgrounds, stores, new people, handle loud noises, and spontaneity.  Any money left over will go for follow up training, all new training that will come up as Jackson gets older as life issues become harder to cope with.We are hoping to start training as soon as possible in order to help Jackson with his meltdowns and anxiety issues.  We are a one income family due to me needing to remain in the home in order for Jackson to receive his much needed ABA Therapy.  Jackson has so much love for Toby and Toby for him.  This dog watches out the window when Jax is in school and when Jackson is due home from school, Toby will sit and whine until he shows up.  I am truly not giving their bond justice.  Having Toby trained, and able to help our son would mean so much to his father and I. If you can find it in your heart to help us achieve this goal or just by sharing our story, us and Jackson would be beyond grateful t
