Hello my name is Daniel Sanchez. I have a story to share with you. A story about a race of people who are a proud but forgotten race of people. This is about the Native Americans of California. A race of people who didnot have a chance and very few survived. Sadly our battle continues today just to be recognized. There about 77 tribes [and that is just in the state of California alone] still waiting to be federally recognized. I know that this will never happen in my lifetime. So we [the Forgotten Tribes of California] have started to band together as one, to petition the state of California for "state" recognition and this would include a parcel of land. And for them to hold this land "in Trust" so all of the "unrecognized" and "forgotten" tribes will have a place to call their own to call HOME. This would allow them to have their "gatherings", their ceremonies and other events. A place for us to build a Cultural Event Center and Museum; and in time, a health center for all. Right now NONE of the Forgotten tribes have a place to call home. Many people do not understand or have any idea what I am talking about, but please believe me from the bottom of my heart, I want you to be aware that many of the tribes of California [as many already have] will just fade into the night and become dust. Extinct without anyone knowing, acknowledging or honoring their existance. As one of those tribes please I respectfully ask of you, DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN....
