Tj’s Vet Bills

Hello! My name is Faith and I am Tjs owner/care giver. I am trying to raise some money to cover Tjs emergency vet bills.

Over the last few days (starting November 19th 2018) I noticed tj was acting a little bit weird (meowing more often and louder than usual, hissing as weird times, staring at walls and meowing) and then I noticed blood in his urine. Tj is an amazing litter box user, never pees on the floor unless his chubby butt just didn’t fit the way he was standing, but this time he came and stood beside me and eliminated on the floor. Bright red. Panicked I took him to Edmonton’s Vetemerg and we ran some tests on the little guy that ended up being 400 dollars. Next day we had to go back because he wasn’t better, and has started peeing on my furniture (still very red), as well as loudly meowing and hissing when attempting (and usually failing) to urinate. This time we put a payment down of 230 dollars (which wasn’t ended up used because we were sent home). Took tj back today (November 21, 2018) and they told me that Tjs urinary tract was blocked and that if I didn’t hospitalize tj the urine would be sent back up to his kidneys and eventually into his blood stream, lowering his heart rate and killing him. This is going to cost me 1300 dollars for 3 days of hospitalization, on top of the 600+ already used.

I live alone, working two jobs and with my hours being cut back,  am having a VERY hard time paying this. I had money set aside for tj but nowhere near 2000+ dollars. I have applied for Petcard to get Tj immediate help but I needed a co-signer as I’m a student and I’m still waiting to hear back.

Tj needs immediate help or I’m going to have to make the decison to peacefully euthanize him.

Thank you so much for reading this!! I am doing my best for tj and I love him with all my heart.

Update: had to take tj in for an emergency procedure last night to unblock his urinary tract. He wasn’t able to pee for about two days, and even after we attempted relief, he was still unable to and eventually threw up. Took him to the vetemerg (not our regular vet but it’s who has seen him the last few days) and got him unblocked. We still need to get him hospitalized and get him his treatment but is able to pee, which lowers the risk of fatality. Without the proper treatment and hospitalization, however, the chances of this happening again are extremely high, so we will follow through with that at a later date. This procedure cost me an extra 650 dollars.
