Titus’ fight against MS
August 17th 2017, would change the lives of our family forever. Titus went to the hospital with a fear in his heart that his medical health was taking a serious turn. Slurred speech, left side weakness, droopy face, impaired balance and cognition…. We were not prepared for what would come next. Titus was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). A once very active and strong man, he was now fighting to regain his ability to walk, talk and use his left hand.
After crying for two weeks straight, it was time to figure out our next move. A friend informed us of a doctor at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, who is doing amazing work with stem cell transplants, closest thing to a cure. We were invited to go out there for a consultation. During the visit the neurologist and immunology doctor determined that Titus’ MS was aggressive, and conventional treatment would not hold back the disease; “it would not be in Titus’ best interest to wait, now is the time to aggressively treat the disease.” The doctors gave the green light to move forward in January…it was like seeing a beam of light shine into a dark room.
We are raising funds to assist with Titus’ medical expenses, living costs while in Chicago for a month, and to support us while we are both out of work for the duration of the treatment.
