Tim was first diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 24 in 2009. He experienced severe abdominal pain. He was rushed to the emergency room where the doctor told him that his symptoms were consistent with an appendix bursting, but his white blood count was too high and concluded that it was cancer. He was then in and out of the hospital for testing from January until April when he was finally diagnosed.
He then went through 9 months of extensive chemotherapy to treat the cancer. After the 9 months of chemo, the cancer went into remission. In just a couple of years, the cancer had retuned. The oncologist told him that chemo was no longer an option because of how intense it was. His only option was to do radiation. Tim had 20 rounds of localized radiation treatment in 20 weeks. Once again, the treatment had put the cancer back into remission.
That brings us to 2018. Sadly, Tim has been diagnosed for a third time. He was eager and excited to move to Florida, and begin a new chapter with his new job at Fieldstone A&E. He noticed a lump on the side of his neck and another by his ear. He immediately made some calls to get it checked out, and got in relatively quickly to see a new oncologist and for the first time in his life, had a doctor at a loss of words. What he didn’t know was that there were more masses elsewhere. He has masses also in his groin and lower abdominal region as well.
Since Tim just started his new job, he doesn’t have insurance yet. This will all be out of pocket. Also, HR and the financial advisor at Florida Cancer Specialist said that insurance may not cover treatment since it’s a pre-existing condition. His initial doctor’s appointment was over $600. He also has a PET Scan, numerous blood draws, a bone marrow biopsy and a biopsy of both the mass in his groin and neck being scheduled. This is going to be thousands of dollars that he just doesn’t have.
All of these tests are being scheduled for the coming days because of how aggressive the cancer is and the fact that this is his third go around. To express the gravity of the situation, his first oncologist stated that the reason for the high amounts of chemo and radiation is because if he were to get it a third time, there would be no treatment options aside from surgery and that may not get all of it.
All the funds will be transfered to Tim's bank account with each withdraw and all funds will be used to 100% cover the medical bills he will face immediately.
In order for Tim to even begin getting tests and treatment rolling, he has to pay 50% of the cost for each doctor visit up front before they will even see him. So we are sending him money ASAP in order to get him the beginning treatment he needs.
We are praying that once his insurance starts in June that this won't be deemed a "preconsisting condition" for his future treatments. So our goal is only a small start to helping Tim cover what could unfortunately be 100% out of pocket this time around.
Tim has asked Ben Cannon to manage this campaign and help him in all efforts of promotion, tracking, communications, and helping him reach his goal. By enlisting Ben’s help, Tim is able to focus on working to maintain his employment, schedule and attend necessary appointments, and focus on his day-to-day health.
