Dollars For The Deputy - Tim Cain

Donation protected
If anyone knows Tim, you know a dear friend, a kind soul, and someone that will do anything for you.  He always has a listening ear and always, always puts others before himself.  This made him a wonderful Deputy for Whiteside County Sheriff, which many know him as a backer for the blue. Once he retired from Whiteside County Sheriff's Department he continued his service at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital as a Public Safety Officer. He's always done for others, now it's our time to do something for him.

January 30, 2017 - After months of not feeling well with stomach issues Tim went to the doctor. They immediately sent him for a CT scan and thought he had a serious bout of diverticulitis, an infection in his intestine. He was admitted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital that night - and he's been there ever since.
His diagnosis then went to colon cancer, stage 2 and on Friday, February 3, 2017 he went into surgery to remove the tumor. Though it was a scary diagnosis it was manageable and Tim and his family were working through it.
During his recovery from the initial surgery he developed a hole in his intestine which caused him to go into emergency surgery almost a week later. Tim was turning septic, an acute infection from the bile that was spilling into his abdomen. Tim was weak from the infection and they couldn't keep him on the surgery table very long. While they were fixing the hole they also realized there was another small hole in his small intestines, near his pancreas. It was in the worst possible place it could be, to mend it quickly and to fix it properly would take an additional 4 to 5 hours which Tim couldn't endure. For an immediate solution to get him off the table they placed a plug to stop the leak, and also placed draining tubes to drain the infection but there was a chance they might have to go back in.
After the surgery on February 9, 2017 he was admitted into Intensive Care. Tim was on a ventilator and multiple antibiotics to ward off the intense infection raging his body.  There was hope that this was the end of his ordeal.
However, about a week later, he had to endure yet another surgery on Friday, February 17, 2017. He was leaking again in his abdomen and had to undergo a 5 hour surgery to stop the stomach fluids from eating away at his intestines. After the surgery, Tim was back in Intensive Care, back on the ventilator, back on multiple antibiotics to combat the infection.  At this point, Tim had undergone 3 major surgeries in 3 weeks! He's strong, but that's more than most people can endure.
On Monday, February 27, 2017, he went back into surgery to have a tracheotomy, to help him breathe better and hopefully move into a rehab facility. However, on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, Tim took a turn for the worse. His kidneys started shutting down, another infection was rearing its ugly head again inside his body. It was touch and go for a while and on Thursday, March 2, 2017, he received a dialysis treatment to assist his kidneys. Tim is still currently in Intensive Care at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. Thoughts and prayers are much appreciated and needed at this time for him and his family. As one can imagine, medical bills for 4 surgeries and Intensive Care treatment for 3 weeks and counting will be shocking to say the least. Once Tim gets out of Intensive Care - which is our hope and prayer everyday - he will still need rehabilitation, as well as starting chemotherapy treatments.
Any help you can give Tim to get him back on his feet, riding his bike, running around with Riley, cuddling with his grandson Kobe, and living life to the fullest with his love Lisa and his family, including his sons, Andrew, Brandon and Connor, is much appreciated.
