My name is Sarah Jere, I was born in Livingstone in the Southern Province of Zambia. I am the last born in a family of 10 although it’s fair to say that I am a twin. My father pastors a church in Livingstone. Altogether, we were a family of 11 but we lost one of my sisters, Juliet Jere, to an illness in August, 2014. I started School in 2001 and completed my high school in 2013. I have a full grade 12 certificate and I am now ready to further my education at Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN with the help of many friends there who are willing to provide room and board, academic support and friendship during my school years. However, $10,500 in tuition is required in order to attend the first year. This is a serious challenge in the Zambian economy. Therefore, I am asking for your help in raising the initial tuition costs that will enable me to gain the ability to support myself through work as a CNA and LPN while completing the rest of my schooling.
My dream is to become a registered nurse with a special interest in improving the pre and post natal health of pregnant women and newborns. I chose this career because I have a strong desire to help people. I have always admired the work that nurses do and desire to do my part to help relieve suffering, serve as a role model to others while encouraging them to pursue medical education as there is a limited number of health care professionals in my country. At the peak of my career, I want to work and teach in as many places as I can, especially rural areas in Zambia that have no access to proper treatment. I believe that with modern, practical skills I can be influential in training others to help many people, particularly women and children, and help save many lives. Many women and children here have been lost due to poorly trained professionals assisting in delivery. I want to help make improvements in this area over the course of my career.
To this end, I am asking for any help you are able to offer in order to meet the initial tuition amount to help cover the first year of my education with my sincere pledge to fully devote myself to making my dream come true. With your gracious assistance, together, we can help improve the lives of many people who are helpless in their need for professional medical care.
