Thomas Needs an Echo and Full Mouth Extraction
Donation protected
Thomas was rushed to the ER this morning in extreme distress, bleeding profusely from his mouth. His paws were covered in blood from pawing at it and he would not settle down.
Vets at the ER got him stable and got the bleeding under control, but are recommending a full mouth extraction (removing all his teeth) to drastically
improve his quality of life. We had previously elected not to do a dental with him because of his age, but at this point it has become an emergency. He is in pain and suffering.
Vets also discovered a gallop in his heartbeat and are concerned about major cardiac disease. They’d like for him to get an echocardiogram done first to determine if he’s healthy enough to go under anesthesia.
Frankly, I can’t even afford our bill at the ER for today, let alone the price quoted for these procedures. Working at an animal shelter barely pays the normal bills, let alone the emergency bills. I will be shopping around at different vets, but we estimate we’ll need at least $2000 to help Thomas. He has made it this long, and we want to potentially start him on heart medicine and make him comfortable to eat (his favorite activity) again. I want him to see 30!
I feel incredibly guilty asking for money, but Thomas deserves this. He is the most special cat I have ever known. Thank you, from the bottom
of my heart.
