The Virginia Home Aquathon
Tax deductible
On the first Friday of December for the past 19 years, residents of The Virginia Home stir up quite a crowd around the facility's therapeutic pool, as 40+ swimmers take to the water to raise money for charity. The annual event, known as The Aquathon, has raised over $115,000 for non-profits since its inception in the fall of 1998.
Participants have 30 minutes to swim as many lengths of the pool as they can with or without floatation devices. Swimmers in excellent condition can complete between 50 and 75 lengths, conversely, some swimmers work tirelessly to complete 2 or 3 lengths.
In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of The Aquathon, a Go Fund Me account has been established. By donating to The Virginia Home-Go Fund Me, all donations raised online will be given directly from The Virginia Home to One America Appeal.
One America Appeal is a joint appeal launched by all five living former American Presidents to encourage fellow citizens to support recovery efforts for victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
