The Solid Ocean: Recording

In the fall of 2014, The Solid Ocean came together to passionately pursue the art of creating excellent music.  Since then, we have written and recorded music, released a music video, played a number of shows, and created and released merchandise with the ultimate goal of getting our music and message out to the masses.

In today's music industry, it is incredibly difficult to make a living performing and writing music.  With record sales trending downward each year, independent artists are forced to tour to make any money, and after fees are paid, artists often times come out on a deficit after the tour ends.  This means that independent artists pay almost entirelly out of pocket for their material, and rarely pocket any money from that process.  In The Solid Ocean, no band member has ever pocketed a cent of the money we've earned; all of it gets funneled back into the band to fund new music, new merch, and new content for our fans to enjoy.  

Recently, we were given the opportunity to record with a producer from Los Angeles, California who believes that the next step in reaching a larger audience is recording at the highest quality possible.  This process would include tracking instruments at top live rooms in LA, mixing by engineers with multiple Billboard Top 50 credits, and mastering by Grammy-award winning engineers.

We have already set this process in motion, as we have worked relentlessly to perfect the music we have already recorded, along with writing new material that we know you all will love.  We will start the demoing process in late-March, with the intention of retracking in LA during this summer.  

Each dollar you give will go directly to the recording process, which includes studio rental, hiring engineers, and paying our producer.  The band will cover travel and living expenses out of pocket because we want to create the best product possible with the money you give us.  

This fundraiser will go from February 17th to March 19th, which would take us to our time demoing with our producer.

Terms and conditions

All rewards stack, meaning once you donate at a specific tier, you recieve all reward for the lower tiers. 

Song downloads- All songs at the $10 level will be sent to you via email or Dropbox a week after the fundraiser ends, at the latest.  At the $50 level, songs will be sent via email or Dropbox after we receive the final product.  All $50 participants will be notified via email when the songs are complete.  

T-Shirt delivery- Once the fundraiser ends, we will reach out to all backers via email at the $25 level and beyond to ask for a shipping address to send the shirt/s to.  Please allow for standard shipping times for your shirt/s to be delivered.  In the situation that we run out of shirts or sizes, we will reach out to you to let you know so we can press more and get them to you.  Shirts will be shipped in the order in which people donate, so to guarantee your shirt is delivered in a timely fashion, be one of our first backers!

T-Shirt sizing- Shirt sizes are small, medium, large, and extra large.  These are the only sizes we can offer

Free concert tickets- The free tickets apply to all shows we play in Denver for the remainder of 2017.  Before each show, we will reach out to you through a medium of your choice (ex. Facebook, text, email) to confirm that you plan on attending the show. Tickets will be redeemed through venue will call or the band guest list, and that distinction will be made during initial contact about attendance.

Four 30-minute lessons- You will be contacted by the band after the fundraiser is complete to set up times and who you want to have your lesson with.  You will work individually with the band member of your choosing to schedule a time and location for your lessons.  These can be redeemed via Skype, in person, or recorded video, depending on your preference.  All in-person demos will be held in Colorado, unless otherwise stated by the band member.  The content of these lessons will be chosen from this list below

You will receive an email from the band after each lesson is redeemed, until all four are used.

Private show- The band will contact you via email to set up a time when they are open to perform the private show.  We will do our best to accommodate your schedule, as ours will be busy preparing for our time in LA.  The types of shows the band will perform are listed below.  All live shows will be held in Denver, unless the donor is willing to bring the band out to where their event is held.  

Skype session:  live 30 minute acoustic session
Private party: 45 minute live set
Pre-recorded private session: 30 minutes of full live band, or acoustic


Personal song- The band will contact you to discuss your options between recording a song idea of your choice, or having us write a song about you.  All tracking, mixing, editing, and mastering will be done in house by the band, with the mixing and editing done at Nathan’s personal home studio.  We will treat this project just like we are treating our project for the fundraiser, which means that rushing the process will only lower the quality!  You will be given a .wav file, stems, and an MP3 of the completed song.  Also, if you want to sit in on the mixing or tracking sessions as part of the 30 minute lesson you received at the $500 level, you are more than welcome to do so.  


Grand prize Vegas Trip: Limited to first donor to give $5000.  You will be contacted by the band if you’re the first person to donate at this level.  As you can understand, there will be a list of regulations you must adhere to when on this trip.

Must be 21+ to go, or else you won’t get in anywhere in Vegas
Must provide transportation to either Denver, Colorado, where you can ride with us to Vegas, or a flight to Vegas where we will pick you up at the airport.
Drinks will be provided by the guys in the band up to a total of $100 a night, because you might die if you drink more than that
No illegal drugs or substances will be tolerated on the trip
We will provide lodging
We will leave Denver either late Thursday evening, or early Friday morning, meaning that if you want to ride with us, you need to be there when we leave.
We will return Sunday morning or afternoon
The date of the trip will be determined by the band after the fundraiser is complete, and depending on who wins the grand prize, we can work with you on a time that works best
The band will NOT be held liable for any damages or personal injury that occur during a trip, whether they be damages to property or bodily harm.
