Story
Anna Anderson is a documentary filmmaker and photographer, who runs Like a Girl Productions, a production company aimed at providing female documentarians with a platform to create and distribute their work.
Daria Bachmann is a journalist, who has developed interest in Yucca Mountain after writing about it.
When the two met on social media in 2016, they decided to make a documentary about the proposed nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain and nuclear waste that's piling up at nuclear reactors around the U.S.
They spent the next two years traveling around the country and interviewing lawmakers, activists, pro- and anti-nuclear organizations and residents of the communities that have been affected by nearby nuclear power plants.
What they found is that there's no easy way to solve America's nuclear waste problem.
Goal
Want to learn about how the transportation of nuclear waste can affect your community?
The Repository Team is looking forward to bringing our documentary to communities across the U.S. to educate them about Yucca Mountain and how nuclear waste shipments might affect people’s lives, should the nuclear waste dump in Nevada be opened.
Among the cities that we plant to visit are:
1. Chicago
2. St. Louis
3. Salt Lake City
4. Los Angeles
5. Atlanta
6. Dallas
7. Boise
8. Omaha
9. Albuquerque
10. Kansas City
Those are some of the major cities through which rail and truck shipments of spent nuclear waste would go to Yucca Mountain.
However the list is not final, as we are always open if you want us to come to your city.
We would like to ask you to support our mission and make a donation to help us fund our travel expenses as we look forward to touring the country with this project and educating people about all things nuclear.
Sincerely,
The Repository Team
