The Red Sable- Small Business Start Up

$900 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 20 people in 76 months

The Red Sable is a dream project we have been working on for last two years with research, networking and business development. We are slated to open our doors in November of 2012 and are very excited for this dream to turn into a reality.  The Red Sable is going to provide a valuable service to our community by offering not just art supplies but classes for children and adults, workshops for established artists on how to market their art; as well as, gallery space for monthly art openings. Our goal is to engage a community filled with people passionate about their arts and inspire those who wish to ignite their artist within.

Problem & Opportunity:
There is no local retailer for fine art supplies in our community.  The fact is the nearest location to purchase these indispensable goods is almost an hour away, therefor creating the perfect
opportunity for investment into a successful retail venture.
The Red Sable is a local art supply store that will carry all materials for artists, as well as a professional
framing department and gallery. We will have knowledgeable staff and competitive pricing.. Our goals are to
inspire individuals who never thought they could be an artist and supply those already following their

Market Opportunity:
Market Size & Condition: Our community is flourishing, 25% of the population makes their living in the arts and is
the second largest art community in the US behind Santa Fe, NM.
Market Structure: Currently in the nearby community there are two (2) craft stores, but no retail outlet that carries all of the supplies needed by a dedicated professional artist or art student.
The Internet Opportunity: Our supplies will be available for purchase on the internet with our B2C capabilities direct from our distributors.
We will offer competitive pricing to keep up with online retailers.

Unique Features:
We stand apart from the competition in the following ways:
"¢ The top unique feature of our store is our location. No longer do you have two choices, big business or
an hour drive to Jacksonville. Our location will be convenient for all locals.
"¢ Better hours than our competitors. Our competition closes as early as 6pm every weekday. We are
going to provide more convenient hours so students and working clients don't have to rush over on
their lunch break or rush from class to get to us before we lock the doors.
"¢ Having a caring & kind knowledgeable sales staff will set us apart form our competitors as well. We
will be staffed with employees who understand the culture of the store is just as important as the
customers who frequent it.
"¢ We will be the only locally owned art supply store to offer Art Instruction along with the supplies we sell.
"¢ We are an establishment that will service the community through regular art openings. This will
provide the opportunity for any customer to develop the sense of loyalty and commitment that is
essential to the success of any locally owned business.
"¢ Our flagship art materials are US Based and Manufactured
and will only be available locally at The Red Sable.
"¢ There is currently no independent framer for Fine Arts in our community; The Red Sable will have a
Framing Department that will service not just the local Art Community, but the population at large.

So much work has already been done, including a very thoorough business plan, essential market research, and the planning of pastel, watercolor & children's art classes.

All that remains is to secure funding, and that is where you come in. We have saved 10% of what we are looking to borrow and we are looking to partner with people like you for another 10%, before going to the bank but we can not do this with out your help. No donation is to small, we greatly appreciate your time to read about our dream and thank you in advanced for your donation.

The Great Towns of America

We Support the Arts! The Great Towns of America, the most vital cultural and scenic locales beyond cities, are (not surprisingly) inspirational to artists at every level. While some of our great towns are already well-established “art towns” (e.g., Santa Fe), other great towns nurture the arts through art centers offering hands-on training, classes and events. Our guidebooks herald these enterprises like Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey, Michigan; Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope, Alabama; and Calistoga Art Center in Calistoga, California. Finally, in St. Augustine, Florida (one of America’s 100 greatest--and prettiest--towns), the Red Sable is gaining momentum to foster and showcase artists and their works. The Great Towns of America looks forward to their success, and will add the Red Sable to our eBook travel guide (St. Augustine, Florida) upon its launch.
