SAIL FOR PEACE – PeaceBoat Project

FRENCH VERSION (English version below)

- Mohammad (Palestine)

ENGLISH VERSION

For the third time in its history, the organization of the EDHEC Sailing Cup sets up the project to welcome a PeaceBoat to its event. The PeaceBoat Project aims at:

-    Gathering students from countries involved in a conflict, where no solution is foreseen, on the same boat for the 50th EDHEC Sailing Cup - the leading European student sport event, of which the historical heart is a 230-boats regatta.

-    Building an unique crew to show the world that despite their differences, they can unite: the project enables to put the values of sport and sailing at the benefit of fraternity, solidarity and peace.

Last spring, the second edition of this project was held in Arzon. Thanks to your donations, an Israeli-Palestinian crew was built: 3 Israeli students and 3 Palestinian students took part in the event.

This year, we’ve decided to bring back the PeaceBoat Project on the 50th edition and make an Ukraino-Russian team sail.

To bring this project to life, we need your donations! Our objective is to collect €4,000 composed of €1,500 for the transport of the team from their home country to Brest and €2,500 for the boat rental.

For more information on the project, you can visit the PeaceBoat Project’s website.

[TESTIMONIALS]

"I'm super excited to be a part of the PeaceBoat Project and the EDHEC Sailing Cup Competition as it is an amazing international sporting event! Being a part of the PeaceBoat Project, that is composed of 3 Palestinians and 3 Israelis working alongside each other to race the PeaceBoat, is great as it promotes to the world that both states are willing and capable of working together to achieve peace and stability in the region." - Yazid (Palestine)

"Participating in the PeaceBoat is an opportunity to show the world that the normal people who are living in the holy land are peaceful and willing to live together, disregarding of the political differences. 3 Palestinians & Israelis “Holy Landers” will be able to communicate, working and spending their time together directly in the regatta. I believe that “us” the youth who will be taking over the world soon, will show the world the wars lead to more wars and communication and understanding lead to harmony." - Mohammad (Palestine)
