The Patient Nurse

Donation protected
Hello and thank you for visiting my go fund me account. My name is Adea Quailey I am a Registered Nurse with 6 children, November 28, 2015 on a Friday evening I went to the emergency room. The Monday of this same week I noticed a boil on my left buttock. This boil began to drain on Wendesday of that week. By Thursday which was Thanksgiving after finishing my shift at work I took my family to eat at a local family oriented resturant to celebrate, I had no appetite at this time. By Friday, the next day I was weak, in a lot of pain and unable to hold down food or liquids. By the prompting of my mother she and my oldest son took me to the hospital. I was placed under sedation and the area was cleaned and I was put into ICU because of my blood sugar level being 471. In two days I was released from ICU and put in a regular med surg room. I continued to experience increased pain, speading now to my lower extremities, weakness and I began to swell from head to toe. My veins collapsed and I was diagnosed as having hypovolemia and cellulitis. On day 9 another cleaning procedure was performed to the wound on my buttock along with a cat scan. I was diagnosed with Flesh Eating Bacteria and was taken by ambulance to a speciality hospital 200 miles away from my family. I went into acute renal failure requiring ventillation support. I had 15 surgical procedures from my left buttock to along the length of my left labia extending to the left side of my abdomen. I required cadaver skin to help promote my skin to grow back. I had to have a skin graft from my left thigh to replace the lost tissue to my left buttock and left labia or the left side of my vagina. I lost half of my abdominal adipose tissue on my left side.
I am so happy and very blessed to be alive at this moment. Yet since this began I had to learn how to walk again. Where the most wonderful surgeons worked to save my life. I spent a month at the Dr's hospital in Agusta Gerogia. I am currently receiving physical 3 days a week therapy in an effort to get strong enough for a follow up reconstructive surgery to even my right abdominal flap with my missing left side.
Recovering has been a long and extremely painful process and I am continuing to live with constant daily pain.
I have since lost my position at the hospital where I worked as a night shift oncology registered nurse because of my new disability. I will most likely never be able to work in the capacity of my proffesion in that manner ever again. I call myself the Patient Nurse because I got to to live life on the other side of the bed as a patient. Someone who was unable to do anything to help themselves and if not for the kindness and compassion of some of the people who cared for me I would not be here to write these words. Unfortunately the reality of life does set in, although I have medical insurance I have accumulated astronomical personal medical expenses. I do receive a portion of my salary but am suffuring financially. This is very hard for me to do as an individual because I am used to being independent. But not only am I weakened physically I am weakend emotionally and financially as well. I am pleading on the kindess and compassion once again of strangers to assist me in my recovery and financial stability. I was once someone who pridefully and loving cared for strangers as a profession, as my calling in life. I loved what I did and miss it very much.
Anything that anyone can spare would be greately appreciated by my family and myself. The majority of my finacial burden has fallen on my mother who has gone above and beyond her duties as a mother as she always has. Not only did she have to deal with the fact that she may possibly lose her daughter to something so rare and horrrible, she also had to step in and handle my business affairs as well. She is the stongest person I know, but everyone has their breaking point. She would never let me know, but in my heart I know that I have become a burden upon her. This money I hope to raise would be spent to pay my back medical bills and hopefully to help me take on my own financial affairs for a while to provide her with relief. Thank you in advance for your kindness, empathy and compassion, and of course for your donations. With all the sincerity I can muster within my spirit I thank you all,  whomever you may be. Once I was a nurse with patience, now I have become the Patient Nurse. Please help me......
