Team 5687, The Outliers, is Baxter Academy for Technology and Science's robotics team competing in FIRST Robotics competitions.
In Recycle Rush, the 2015 challenge, we placed 3rd in New England and 1st in Maine. We also achieved the title, 2nd best rookie team of all time!
The next year, we spent time investigating robotic applications of Continuously Variable Transmissions, earning ourselves the Innovation in Control award. Christine, our robot from Stronghold, could traverse obstacles seamlessly.
This year, FIRST® STEAMWORKSSM the 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition game, invites two adventure clubs from an era in which technology relied on steam power to prepare their airships for the ultimate long distance race.
We were event finalists in the Granite State Event and the Greater boston event and were quarterfinalists in the Pine Tree Event. Currently we are ranked FIRST in New England! We have received the Innovation in Control Award sponsored by Rockwell Automation, the Excellence in Engineering Award sponsored by Delphi and the Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors. We have qualified for the New England District Championship and from there hope to qualify for the World Championship in St. Louis, MO.
