Books & Balls for kids in Belize
Donation protected
Our family is traveling to San Pedro Belize next month. As part of this trip, we will be supporting a local organization, The Island Academy. TIA was founded 22 years ago by a family friend, Lady Dixie Bowen. The school is reliant on tuition and private donations in order to provide a quality education for its roughly 80 students aged 5-14.
It can be difficult and often prohibitively expensive for the school to import the supplies that they need. For that reason, our family will be purchasing and hand-carrying items on the plane with us. Your contribution will be used to purchase additional items from the list below, all of which will be hand delivered to TIA. Any donation no matter how small can make a big impact for The Island Academy, its students, teachers and the San Pedro community.
We've already fulfilled Teacher Scott's request of 12 hardcover copies of the book "Wonder" for his 8th grade class. Scott is a Charlotte, NC native and Liberty University grad.
Teacher Ally is a Maryland native and FSU grad who teaches 3rd and 4th grade. Her students would greatly benefit from SRA Reading Labs materials for her class.
Other needed items include:
-sports equipment
- school supplies
- art supplies
- paperback books
If you've ever been to San Pedro, you have experienced the vibrancy, beauty and warmth of this community. Thank you for your support and for making a difference in the lives of their youngest residents!
