My name is Dr. Norman Hoffman and this fund (known as the HOFF - Hoffman Outreach Family Foundation) is to support families who cannot afford to get the care they need. I was inspired to create this page by patients who suggested it as a way to help their family and friends who they felt would benefit from the type of treatment our centre provides.
Our office has been operating in Red Deer, Alberta since 1994 providing chiropractic and other wellness related services. In 2014, we upgraded our facilities and training to serve the needs of patients with more complex conditions. Our clinical focus is neurological cases such as ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, epilepsy and traumatic brain injury. As you can imagine, many families who are dealing with these types of health challenges can struggle under the financial burden of medical bills, home care, education costs, etc.
Recently, a woman brought her son to me for care for ADHD, ODD and learning disabilities. Her husband had recently passed away and she was determined to go back to school to get a job which could provide sufficiently for her family. On her initial appointment, she informed me that the next day she had an appointment with the bank to get a loan to pay for her son's care in my office because she had heard that we might be able to help. This was all the push I needed to get this fund started.
Our goal is to be able to raise enough money for her and families like her to receive our best care without further financial burden. The cost of such care can vary widely but is often between $1500 and $3000.
Candidates for this fund will be selected by an independent panel based on need for care, likelihood of success in the program, and financial circumstances.
Our wellness centre has already donated thousands to other local charities and given away thousands of dollars in free care to help support our mission of giving back to the community. The HOFF fund will expand our ability to help these deserving families even further.
