The Hearty Cakery- a local concept

Donation protected
Hello!

First of all thank you, so much, for taking a minute to give this a once over! As many of you know I have a passion for food and an even greater passion for people. I strongly believe that love and a sense of community are what keep us thriving as human beings.

A little more about why were here:

Currently, I produce wedding cakes, small occasion cakes and cater for parties out of my home with the goal to open up a cake and dessert "Cakery" not only to produce quality local products but to teach this trade to everyone willing to learn.

As the owner of the company I come with 8 years of pastry, bread, doughnut, resort, cake and high volume production experience. Food taught me to be kind and my family taught me to love.

Growing up with humble, hard working parents I learned a lot about what it takes to thrive and to never loose sight of my dreams. I pushed myself to go to The Culinary Institute of America and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Baking and Pastry Art Business Management.

Through my parents struggles and my own I've tried to answer some big questions about the food industry. My goal was to understand how we can create greater opportunities for people who come from proud, humble beginnings to grow in a sometimes gruesome industry.

How can we improve business concepts to promote employee welfare and improve our products in addition to helping our community grow?

From what I've learned, it should be the responsibility of local business to support the community in which they thrive. Therefore we should all consider compensating employees based on education and quality of life. We should constantly move toward improving their ability through training and mentoring.

In addition, I strongly believe it is the responsibility of local business owners to promote others to consider small business ownership in order to improve growth in our communities. This can be done by simply applying business training programs, internships and mentoring.

That is my goal, I just need your assistance with advice, encouragement and if you can spare it, a small investment. My hope is to use this money specifically for the purchase of initial equipment and supplies to keep growing from home and in the coming year my goal is to look into real estate.

In 10 to 12 years my goal is to maintain a family and community run homestead to provide as many people as we can with the opportunity to receive quality local products, and to learn about the food system we survive in through classroom programs and community outreach.

Thank you again for taking a minute to hear me out!

Cheers!
