The Great Dismal Swamp @ The Tank
Dear Community,
On August 20th 2017 my play The Great Dismal Swamp will take stage at The Tank Theatre’s Lady Fest 2017. We need your help to make this production happen.
About the Play
The Great Dismal Swamp takes place in the United States at the turn of the century during the Convict Leasing Era. At the center of the action is The Great Dismal Swamp, who has witnessed the decimation of the land, water and observed the dehumanization of black bodies in the American South. When a young woman, Dande, comes to live in The Great Dismal Swamp, their relationship is magical, musical and complicated as they seek to find healing, release trauma and find freedom for themselves together in the Reconstruction South.
Here is how you can help
1. Support our Go Fund Me.I believe artists should be paid. This campaign will pay our talented staff and our post-show reception to celebrate their hard work. If you are interested in a private donation or sponsorship, please contact me directly.
2. Buy a ticket and come see the show!
I believe art should be accessible. If you are not in NYC or cannot attend, please consider buying a ticket and we will donate it to a low income student, woman or queer person of color through a ticket lottery.
3. Share this campaign and the Facebook event with your friends far and wide. We need your help in spreading the word and garnering press and exciting around this project. Brag, blab, talk us up to your people.
