The Great Dismal Swamp @ The Tank
$1,055 of $1,000 goal
On August 20th 2017 my play The Great Dismal Swamp will take stage at The Tank Theatre’s Lady Fest 2017. We need your help to make this production happen.
About the Play
The Great Dismal Swamp takes place in the United States at the turn of the century during the Convict Leasing Era. At the center of the action is The Great Dismal Swamp, who has witnessed the decimation of the land, water and observed the dehumanization of black bodies in the American South. When a young woman, Dande, comes to live in The Great Dismal Swamp, their relationship is magical, musical and complicated as they seek to find healing, release trauma and find freedom for themselves together in the Reconstruction South.
Here is how you can help
1. Support our Go Fund Me.I believe artists should be paid. This campaign will pay our talented staff and our post-show reception to celebrate their hard work. If you are interested in a private donation or sponsorship, please contact me directly.
2. Buy a ticket and come see the show!
I believe art should be accessible. If you are not in NYC or cannot attend, please consider buying a ticket and we will donate it to a low income student, woman or queer person of color through a ticket lottery.
3. Share this campaign and the Facebook event with your friends far and wide. We need your help in spreading the word and garnering press and exciting around this project. Brag, blab, talk us up to your people.

This afternoon a very talented cast will take the stage at The Tank to present ROSIE Passage #3: The Great Dismal Swamp. I am incredibly proud of the hard work they have invested to bring this play to its highest vision.
I am thankful for all of you and your investment in this work. This is only the start for me and the works I am developing this season. I am staging work at Dixon Place in October in addition to several stage readings.
We did not meet our campaign goal and as Producer I will take on the exposure to pay cast members and our vendors from my teaching salary.
I am looking forward to the day when I dont have to solely take on that fiscal responsibility. I thank you for your contributions because it softens the exposure and the stressful financial loss.
Today I am thankful for ticket sales despite not having a marketing budget. I am thankful for word of mouth communications. I am thankful for a beautiful Sunday in August. I am thankful for creativity, life, friendship and love.
Thank you for taking this journey with us.
We need a photographer for Sunday 12-4. Send any of your ppl our way. We havent met our goal the budget is suffocating so dont send your friend who shoots for Nat Geo or Vogue. We can barely afford programs at this point. Ugh. #tooreal
Do send your friend who is a student or looking to add to a portfolio. :) Send us your talented friend who owes you a favor. Do send your friend who shoots and can volunteer for a women centered production with out putting themselves at financial risk.
