The Fitting Room Educational Media Corporation's (TFR) mission is twofold; To create and disseminate free media that helps teens nationwide to find an achievable career goal. Our local mission is to improve the motivation of teens from the Bridgeport area and build their confiwdence by providing a summer program that teaches them in-demand digital journalism skills.
The interns then use these skills to interview people in various professions to create two-minute virtual-career-day movies for classroom use. Thus, for the interns, learning these skills is a means to an end: they discover some career possibilities that they didn't know about, and the movies that they make educate others on these same opportunities.
This year we will hold our fourth summer program. It is six weeks long. Our goal is to produce 40 top quality 2-minute episodes of our show.
The good news is that through a partnership with Hall Neighborhood hide and donations of equipment and space to use we have 70% of the funding that we need to meet our goals. We have a grant which covers $9000 of our program. It falls short in that it doesn't cover about $3750 for the cost 100 hours of professional instruction/supervision at the going rate of $30/hour plus 25% residual fees. We are seeking an additional $62.50 per week to bring a life transforming experience to an urban youth. Please donate what you can afford or consider sponsoring an intern for a week or 2.
